October Events
2nd Oct - World animals day @ Edgars Mission
16th Oct - Canberra's first vegan Living Green Festival
This year Canberra will be holding its first ever vegan
festival on Sunday 16 October 2011. The ‘Living Green Festival’ will be
held in Albert Hall, a well-known heritage building right in the centre
of Canberra. The Festival will focus on the relationship between climate
change, the environment, and animals, and will showcase ways we can
reduce our carbon footprint and be more considerate of the other animals
we share this planet with. That’s why the theme of our Festival is ‘a
kinder shade of green’.
We’ve already received a 2011 Climate
Change Grant from the ACT Government, and we’re finalising the great
product and food stalls that will be there, so now all we need is YOU to
come up to the Nation’s Capital to support our inaugural vegan
festival! It will be held on the last day of Canberra’s big flower
festival, Floriade, so you can fit both in on a weekend’s trip up from
the big smoke! The Festival venue is also close to nearby tourist
attractions such as the National Museum, Questacon, and the Parliament
Houses, and is accessible by bus, bicycle and on foot.
More information about the Festival is at
www.livinggreenfestival.org.au. If you’d like to participate in the Festival in any way, you can also get in touch by emailing
contact@livinggreenfestival.org.au or on Facebook or Twitter.
So come and tiptoe through the tulips to Canberra’s first ever vegan festival – help us make it a real success!
